"I started working with Megan almost a year ago after being diagnosed with a Chronic Pain, central sensitisation condition. After meeting Megan I realised just how important exercise is to start on a path to controlling my pain. Working with Megan has played a massive role in my road to gaining control back, and without the ongoing-support I received, and still receive, I don’t think I would be in the better position that I am in now compared to one year ago. The exercise plan felt so daunting to start with, but working closely with Megan I can actually say I enjoy it once I get into the gym. I have a comprehensive plan which I use each time I go to the gym, even after a year. Megan has always been so professional, but also really does care about clients and their well-being. Megan became a great sounding board for me, and it is so reassuring knowing there is someone there at the end of the phone if there was anything I needed. “In a huge amount of pain and generally angry and upset with the thought of being sent to yet another person, was my attitude, when I walked into the gym to keep my appointment with Megan.  She was great. She has seen me cry more times than my mother and yet never made me feel useless, even when I had problems lifting the 1kg weights that were my original nemesis. "I am a husband, a Dad & a Professional working for the past 25yrs mostly in the NZ construction industry. I suffer from depression, when depressed I can also have anxiety and physical ailments. I first got depression14 years ago when I was the a GM, had other business activities & my wife and I were caring for my terminally ill Mother.  5 yrs ago I was introduced to Megan McEwen's Exercise Rx approach.
Megan's approach is absolutely different from anything else I have encountered. The best description I can think of is that Megan has taught me the Psychology of Exercise, I imagine this is similar to what elite athletes learn about how their mind & bodies work together. Fundamentally what I have learnt working with Megan is that no one solution gets you well from depression, fatigue, anxiety, major injury or illness but instead a well balanced approach that includes at its core exercise & mental well being
Megan is highly professional & extremely knowledgeable. Her prescriptions are genuinely individualised & all encompassing. She empathised with my constantly changing circumstances. This meant I knew the advice she was gave me was based on her incredibly large knowledge base and my real (physical or mental) ailments and concerns.Megan developed for me a very customised exercise lifestyle (not just a program), we worked through that program, developed it, modified it over time, in the most part to suit my mindset towards exercise & what I do & don't enjoy (i didn't enjoy any exercise when we started). Megan got me to a point where I enjoy, even love exercising. I now want to exercise & the bonus is that I know it keeps me well. She got me to understand the psychology of exercise, by writing a custom prescription for me, exercise types, methods and challenges. Trying to "force" me to do exercise such as a Personal Trainer might do, would not have worked for me & I am sure any result would have been short term, hence the reason why so many people don't last longer than 3 months at a gym. 
I am now operations manager for a $11.0m t/o construction company & love imparting the change in my lifestyle & self management on my fellow workers. Megan's influence has also changed how my family & I exercise, eat & how much time we spend together. Whilst I no longer need to work with Megan, I follow her blogs & Linked In posts with great interest. Personally I think my experience working with Megan McEwen and Exercise Rx has been the single most important factor in my getting well & staying well & giving me the lifestyle I now have."
